In a recent blog post, Google has announced that they will be improving their efforts to soften the gaps between the native and web apps. Avni Shah, the Chrome Director of Product Management introduced the latest version of Chrome coming in the next update of Android.
In 2015, Google assisted to darken the gaps between the web and native apps by allowing the developers to speed up the users to browse their site and add it to their home screen. It appears similar to the other apps. According to Google, there is something called ‘Progressive Apps’, wherein the lines have disappeared from the view point of a user.
This latest update of Chrome will strengthen the synthesis between the Android and the other web applications. Now, these saved apps will appear in the app drawer and they will also be combined with the system to appear in the settings. Another thrilling concept is that these web apps have the power to receive the intents from other apps.
Intents grant the permission to the concerned apps for carrying a particular function when necessitated by another app or when a user clicks a URL. For instance, when you click on a Spotify link on the web, the native app opens to play the required content selected by you.
As per a report published by Developer Tech, Yaron Friedman, a software engineer at Google said, “This new addition to the home screen feature is one more step in our journey to empower the developers, so that they can build the best possible experience for their users and we are committed to ensuring the same mechanisms for installing the progressive web apps which are available to all the browsers on Android.”
Google is utilizing ‘service workers’, so that your app will load faster and will assist in offering a reliable, fast, and engaging experience to all the users. The major future of Google lies in the web. Google still makes out a larger volume of revenue from the web ads.
